Adding a SATA disk

  Diodorus Siculus 08:46 23 Nov 2005

Hi, I've got a new machine put together with a mobo that supports both SATA and IDE.

At the moment I have used up both IDE channels with two hard disks and two optical drives.

In my greed for more storage, I was thinking of adding a SATA disk - is it simply a case of plugging it in with its cable and power supply and booting up? Then into diskmanagement for partition / format as normal.

In effect, what I am wondering is whether or not SATA drives require any special drivers / procedure. I will not be installing an OS onto it - simply using it for storage space.

The OS is win2k SP4.

Thanks as always, Dio.

If you dont intend using it for an OS,then its basically attach the SATA and install the driver.Done.

Thanks for those - the WD guide is pretty clear. I'll give it a go and report back one day.
