Hi,

Im trying to add Safe Mode to my boot option list so that i can always get to it (i know ull say
"just press F8, but ive had an experience where this didnt work, so i want a rock solid way of getting to it).

I have edited my boot.ini to look like this...

[boot loader]
;timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition Safe Mode " /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn/safemode:minimal /sos /bootlog

Look ok? I have sent a copy of the original boot.ini to a floppy in case it goes pear shaped, but i am worried that my tweaking will make the system unbootable.

Please have a check over it.

Thanks

any ideas...?

<<< /NoExecute=OptIn/safemode:minimal /sos /bootlog >>>

Shouldn't there be a space after OPTIN and shouldn't the subsequent command be /SAFEBOOT:MINIMAL ?

The "Default" path actually points to BOTH options because they are both "WINDOWS". I would have thought "WINDOWS=" should have been taken out or possibly named differently.
