adding memory xp activate

hi, can any one help,at pressent my pc has 1gb(2x512) of kingston ddr 3200/400 memory i would like to add extra 1g(mobo asus takes up to 4gb)and an 200gb sata h/d.
should i use 1x1gb or 2x512 as before also will windows xp-p2 allow to upgrade without having to re-activate system

If you have "dual channel" memory then you need to add 2 x 512; otherwise 1x1gb will be fine. Take a look at your motherboard manual for best advice. IF you don't have it, click here for SIW which will ID it and google will find you a manual.

You should not need to reactivate after adding RAM. I've not had to at least; as for adding a new hard drive, I'm not so sure.

Based on my own experience you should not need to re-activate.

The need to re-activate depends on what changes you have made in the past and against what criteria activation was made. You have no control over the latter.

I have found this free software helpful in seeing what changes may cause a need to re-activate click here
