I have downloaded OpenOffice 3.0 It has limited ( and rather similar) fonts Help line obscure. When I ask how to add fonts it goes on about UNIX and Spadmin. They might as well be talking double Dutch !
To recap and BT I very much appreciate your replies and I have downloaded the instruction you have suggested. I think it is going to take a few days to understand them though Everything seems easy on paper doesn't it ? Will report progress in a day or two.
The instructions in the link are OK but the simple way is to open your Windows font folder and just drag in any new font files that you want to add. They will then be available in OpenOffice and any other program that uses fonts, i.e. PhotoShop or similar.
'Lots of new fonts are a good way to help smooth the way for apprehensive new users. Plus, they're just fun. Download the ones you want for your operating system and copy them to the appropriate directory, such as C:\WINDOWS\FONTS. They'll then show up in OpenOffice.org'
It is exactly how it is written on that website. Download the font you want from where ever. Save it to your desktop. Click, 'Start', 'Run' and copy and paste 'C:\WINDOWS\FONTS' into the box and hit enter. You should now see all of the font files come up in a window. Quite simply, drag the file from your desktop into this folder.
