Activating Win XP

How many time do we need to activate Win XP?

I have been running XP/SP2 for at least 2 years now with no problems.

Today I booted my PC and up came a dialogue box telling me that I need to Activate my copy of XP otherwise I can't use it. Options: yes/no.

At first I selected No as I had already activated this copy. That didn't work so next time I booted I selected Yes and the activation was completed almost instantly.

But why did I get this dialogue box in the first place?

Activation file corrupt.

Now you have reactivated copy the file and save as a backup, look for wpa.dbl

Not that 4th Item ;) just select 'system Summary' it takes a while to load in the info and in the panee on the right you have
OS Name
Version
OS Manufacturer
Activation status (4th in this list)

Seth Haniel, no go there either.

All I have is:
OS Name
Version
OS Manufacturer
System Name
System Manufacturer
System Model
System Type
Processor etc...

Nothing about Activation status.

But as Fruit Bat /\0/\ has pointed out. Now that it has been reactivated I have backed it up. I also keep a cloned copy of my C: drive on another hard drive which is stored outside of the computer.

Thanks all and will now tick as resolved.
