Acronis Restore problem - "corrupted" first file

  Chocksaway 00:55 18 Aug 2007

After formatting my hard drive I tried to restore the D: partition from my ACRONIS HOME 10 backup carefully performed last night and saved to a brand new external HD. On trying to restore Acronis reports that the first archive file (*.tib) is "corrupt". All of the others, (23 separate files) appear to be OK. Is there any way to restore even partially from all of this backed up data? The option to restore individual files will not work either because the Acronis programme requests the first file before it will proceed! Hoping that there is a way to do this. Sincerely, Gordon Webb

Have you tried to verify the backup from TI?
The only time this happened to me I was able to restore by using the boot disk rather than from within Windows.
Also, very occasionally, TI becomes corrupt and a repair (just reinstall and choose the repair option)) sorts it out.

Thanks for the help. When I try to verify the backup TI reports that the first file is not a genuine Acronis backup file!!!! If I click on one of the other (part back-up) files, it starts to verify then stops and reports that it cannot continue because the first file is dud! I have reinstalled TI with the very latest build so that's not a problem. The first file appears to be the same size as the others (except that the last one is smaller of course).

As a total newbie to Acronis I have so far learned verifying proves nowt the only proof is if it works and can only be proved by doing it as you are trying .Bit like buying a spare part for the car and ripping out a working part just to see if the spare works.

I am not belittling this forum but things like Acronis can be a bit specialist. So if you cannot resolve the problem here try the Acronis forum click here
