Am confused!!! If I connect laptop to router using wired connection I can access internet via IE. If I try to do it via wireless it will not connect in spite of showing connection showing 'excellent' signal strength. It also shows Wireless Network Connection "acquiring network address"' - laptop has been on all night and still showing this. Any suggestions please??

Check firewall settings are allowing the wireless connection, and that the wireless settings are correct.

Try turning off the router for a minute or two.

Hi Recap - have tried your suggestion re the router but to no avail. Checked Firewall settings and Firewall is on. Under Exceptions Remote Assistance and UPnP Framework are ticked. Under Advanced all 3 connections are ticked. In Settings nothing is ticked under Services or ICMP. Are these settings corect? What are the corect wireless settings?? many thanks for your help
