ACPI and turning off power management generally

  greybeard 18:25 18 Jul 2009

I'm trying to set up Ubuntu/emc2 software to run on a GA-5AX mobo / AMD-K6-2/500mhz / 655Mb ram /ATI C1-8 video.
Inorder to improve the real time performance, it's necessary to disable all the power management, and anything else that might affect it.
I've found an entry in the start up screen that indicates that ACPI is at IRQ9, but there seems to be no way of turning this off in the bios.
The screen goes blank after a quiescent period of about 15 minutes, so I assume this is what is doing it.
If anyone can suggest a way around this, or other possibilities, I'd be very grateful.
