Acer timekeeping problem

I have an Acer Aspire 5633 Laptop running vista Home premium. It does not keep the correct time for more than about 45 mins.
I have had a number of unexplained shutdowns so immediately thought the CMOS battery would need changing but I am told there is no CMOS battery.

Any ideas about how to rectify the time problem. It is not set to check the time from any web site.

Thanks

I am told there is no CMOS battery.

Where did you get that info?
The CMOS battery can be quite hard to access on a laptop.
