Hi, I recently replaced the DC powerjack on an acer inspire 5738 laptop. After taking out the old and soldering in the new jack, i powered up the motherboard and checked with multimeter that i was getting constant power, which i was, i put the laptop back together but the battery wont charge!! I disassembled the laptop again and powered up to check if orange charging light came on which it did, i hooked up the basics and started the laptop and confirmed the battery charged from 10% to 20% onscreen. I assembled everything properly again, only to find no orange light and battery wont charge, its driving me crazy!! the battery charges when the laptop is disassembled but does not when i assemble it! any help please would be greatly appreciated

Look around the power jack for a crack in the printed circuit tracks. It may be the board is slightly flexed when installed.

Does sound like a dry joint - I'd resolder the jack connections.
