Can anyone help I have just bought an acer aspire laptop running vista and when I try to connect to my wireless router which is running OK because I can connect my friends laptop running xp to the wireless network but when I try to connect the acer it keeps coming up with acquiring IP address and wont connect any advice would be welcome.

Open a Command Prompt window ("Start > Run", type CMD and click OK). At the prompt, type:

netsh interface ip reset resetlog.txt

and press Enter (note the spaces in the command line). The original prompt will reappear, exit the Command Prompt window and reboot the PC.

Alternatively, download and run this little "WinSockFix" utility click here

Reinstall the latest chipset driver, reboot laptop and reinstall the new latest wireless network card driver again.

Hope this helps!

You shouldn't have to mess around with it, take it back.
