Acer Aspire graphics card problem?

  richcarr 11:05 20 Mar 2008

In the past few days, my laptop (Acer Aspire 5672) as become very incompetent.

Now, I'm not to sure if it's my graphics card. But the problem started out, when my screen would go black then come back on, before going black again resulting in the laptop freezing.

I would reboot and all would be fine until the next day, when the screen would just go black. Meaning I had to reboot, only now some of the graphics have horrible pink or blue lines running over them.

This morning it as become even worse, as the norm now the screen went black so I reboot, only for this time it would get so far in booting up then the system turns itself off.

I have received a save dump?

Have you tried updating the graphics drivers?

Definitely sounds like a graphics problem.

Definitely check the drivers first. Look in Device Manager under Display; any yellow exclamation marks?

If it is the graphics card it may well be integrated or soldered to the motherboard and so it isn't a DIY repair.

Is it under warranty?

Just downloaded the Omega Driver Set. So hopefully it will solve the problem.
Although I reckon it may be something to do with the morgerboard.

As for warranty, unfortunatly not. I never took out the extra cover, due to being a student not having the money. However, I've been recently saving to buy a Macbook Pro, once I get enough money together.
