Acer Aspire 5630 not starting up

  aaronced 11:18 22 Jan 2009

I've just tried to switch on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5630 running Windows XP) and nothing is happening. Well I say nothing, the start button lights up and the fan starts, but only for a few seconds and then it stops. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Doesn`t sound good but try this. Remove the battery and the power lead. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds, plug in the power lead and try to boot. If this doesn`t work check that the RAM is secured properly. Check also that the power socket on the laptop is firm and secure and that the power brick is working. (Does it have a light to indicate it`s on or does the laptop have a power on LCD?)
