Accessing Floppy

Hopefully a simple problem with a simple answer:
Is it possible to stop Word (and other programmes) from trying to access the Floppy Drive everytime it is opened.
At some time I have either opened a file from there or saved to it and now it tries to access it every time.
Likewise, when I try to change the default directory for downloading pics. from my camera, the first port of call for 'browsing' is the A Drive.

Try clearing the list of recently accessed files - tools, options, general and set to 0. Exit word and restart. Then reset to the number you want.

Also the recent docs list in the start menu.

You can usually prevent this if when you have been using drive A:, you open another file - any from the HD will do........... Then when you finally close the application it will not search for A: next time.
