Access versus SQL server

  John Ross 12:12 01 Dec 2007

We have a database on Access, which is a pain to Query, as it is relational and there are multiple linked Tables.
we have been advised to migrate the database to SQL Server as we are told it is much easier for a non-professional to Query and create Reports than Access.
I am a bit confused : I had presumed that SQL Server was for programmers and the like, and that the user interface would be more difficult than Access.

Does anyone have experience of these issues, and is there a source of info out there? The webpages I ave read don't help much.
