Access denied

Running Winxp home
When I insert an empty cd-rw in the D drive slot I get "Access denied.
Clicking on the D drive icon properties shows the disk is in place and empty.
No problem when a disk containing data is put into the drive.
Should I be getting "Access Denied" with an empty disk?

Hi, I would suggest that you try to find the answer at click here Knowledge Base.
Good luck.

Hi, Yes you SHOULD get "Access Denied" message and/or another message: "Please insert a disk in Drive D:" This is because Windows will examin the disk and discover that there are files on it, so to windows you have NO disk in the drive (Even though it tries to read the disk).

Hi again, I agree with mattyc_92. If you put an empty disc into a CDRW Drive then XP will ask you what you want to do with it, but in an ordinary drive "Please insert a disc" - etc:-)
