abit kv-81

i am tryin to install a brand new abit kv-81 mother board it does not recognise any ide drives ..hard drive or cd/dvd roms

i have double checke that cables, you cante get them the wrong way

auto detect in bios finds nothing

am i missing something here ?

Have you ensured the jumpers are set correctly on the back of the drives?

And the long part of the ide cable is plugged into the mobo whilst the short part with two connectors is plugged into the drives which also have power cables plugged?

yes the motherboard is a replacement 4 a perfectly working system

In that case your mobo might be duff. Are you getting the monitor to switch on and do you have access to the bios?

Check IDE controller enabled in BIOS

Power plug to drive? easy to forget.
