ABBYY Fine Reader 6.0 Sprint

  bluto1 22:16 24 Jan 2008

Doing a clear out of unnecessary stuff on my PC and this was the first thing to greet me in Add/Remove. Is there any great need for it?
Your help appreciated.

Depends if you have much use for a PDF Reader. It is not essential.

Thanks Technotiger, I wasn't sure where it came from or why I've even got it. I'll dump it and see what happens. Resolved.

probably came with your epson printer/scanner?

It is a OCR program (Optical character recognition) used with scanners to convert images of documents to text. as stated probably came bundled with a scanner. Very useful program if you have the need for it. Don`t know why Technotiger thinks it`s a PDF reader, maybe it can scan and convert from pdf`s?

Converts PDF, images, documents into text, word and excel.

PS - I forgot to add that I un-installed mine because I use Scansoft's PDF Pro4, and Omnipage Pro14.

Thanks Technotiger. Never thought to use ABBYY for that because I have other dedicated programs that convert PDF`s.

Thanks for all the input. I discovered, before deleting, that it came with my Lexmark 3-in-1 so is therefore required. I'll have to read up on it as I normally do with new installations.
Many thanks all.
