Hi,

I am building a new system and would appreciate peoples comments on why grahics chip to go with nVidia or Ati? Also what are the main benefits of media centre over XP home, I don't have an ariel where the computer is, so is it worth the extra expense.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Oh, the computer is mainly for gaming, battlefield 2, COD2 and HL2, plus some photo editing.

I personaly think that you should go XP Pro, and graphics wise go for the xfx 7900 for £200 go over too click here and take a look

£200 will only get you a 7900GT from XFX.....not the GTX model.

A GTX from the same site as linked to is £349.

An X1900XTX is around £400 (same site).

As to which is best...well the current speed king is the ATI X1900XTX.On most current games the difference is marginal but with shader heavy games such as Oblivion the X1900XTX is significantly faster.Bear in mind that most up and coming games are likely to be shader heavy too.

With the games you mention I would be tempted to save £50 and go with the NVidia 7900GTX.
