60gb hdd, windows see's it as 1.99gb!!!

Have built a pc, it ran 1st time, loaded windows 98, office 2000, all fine.

Upon trying to load a game that need 1.4gb space, i am informed that i do not have enough disk space. And looking in my computer it says the c;drive is 1.99gb.
bios sees hdd as 60gb!!

Sytem built..........

pc chips mobo
amd athlon 2500
60gb maxtor hdd
256 pc21100 memory
aopen cdrw drive

could be down to how you partitioned it

Did you run FDISK before you loaded Win98. If not that's Why you can only see 1.99Gb when You use FDISK in DOS starting With the Win98 Floppy disc you have got to choose enable large disc Support so it makes the Partition FAT32 if you right click on My Computer it will tell you the Fat system More than likely Fat16
