5 instances of svchost

  picklefactory 17:58 08 Sep 2006

Looking through some other threads with reference to running processes, I checked out the ones running on my pc. Didn't find any alarming processes (36 in total), but svchost is in the list 5 times, 4 times linked to Service and once to Network Services. Anyone know if that is normal?
I'm running XP Pro, by the way.

I have 6 svchost.exe running (XP Pro) with a total of 57 running processes.

It's normal to have several of these running at once.

Providing they all read svchost.exe that is, and not svchosts.exe or scvhost.exe......if any of them is slightly different from svchost.exe run a virus scan immediately.

Luverly, thanks folks. I'm not experiencing any issues and run AVG regularly, just wondered.
