3gig P4 Prescott 478, how hot?

Basicly I am wondering how hot should a 3 gig P4 Prescott be? Over at Intel.com I can only find info on the 475(?) socket processors, I seem to recall reading that the Prescotts run a little hotter, but not sure were.

You're right, Prescott is quite a bit hotter.

You can still buy Northwood now, but they will disapper very soon. In fact, very difficult to get in US now, my friends across pond told me.

just bought a prescott 3.2 myself but have resorted to fitting a coolermaster hyper 6 see here click here

but prior to fitting this my temp with basic intel heatsink/fan was 53 at idle going to over 60 with a bit of load

temp now with hyper 6 fitted is 41 idle and just over 50 with a bit of load on and cooling fan set at 1795 rpm

Well I think I will add another case fan, the one included in my case does not work, and put a little PCI exhaust fan next to the graphics card to see how that helps. But it looks like I am going to have to start playing with Artic Silver...
