I have just bought the Epson 3490 scanner but find it noisy as it scans. Is this the norm with this scanner

Hi, I would hardly call it noisy - yes, one can hear it working, but I like that, I find that re-assuring. Anyway, surely it is the quality of the results that matter more.

I still say, you have made an excellent choice.

Have just done a few slides and they are fine. yes I will have to ignore noise. It was that my other scanner was very quiet but very happy with this one

Just a point. Each time i put in 3 slides a message appears each time saying to wait scanner is warming up. Is it possible to by-pass this and have a continuos scan

Don't think the warm up message can be by-passed, not too sure why you are getting it everytime. I use a 4870 and can scan continuously as long as I don't pause for too long between each scan - are you having to do a lot of adjustments between each one?

As rick808 says, cannot be by-passed. Maybe you waiting too long between scans, giving scanner time to cool down again.

I put next 3 slides on straight away but still get same message. I have emailed Epson about it and will see what they say about it. I may be doing something wrong.
