32bit and 4g ram

I thought Vista 32 bit can't read 4g of ram My laptop specs say 4g ram installed but only showed up as 3g. However, I downloaded and installed Vista Service Pack 1 and it now shows up as 4g of ram unless something is going on that is beyond my comprehension. Just a point of ineterst

You have basically answered your own question, it is a fix within the service pack that allows this...

It is a fix in SP1 that ONLY allows you too see that 4GB is installed. It does NOT allow Vista to use it all though and most set ups will still only be able to utilise little more than 3GB RAM.

So following on from rickf's question, does Vista 32 bit now both read and utilise 4GB of RAM if SP1 has been installed?

Pine Man you got there with my answer before my question arrived. You must be a mind reader!

Thanks for that Pine man, don't really see all the urgency for whacking in or buying systems with vast amounts of RAM, It will never get utilised fully...
