2nd wireless router running off one of my ethernet ports - is it insecure?

Hello, I'm looking for some knowledgeable advice, before I make my daughter ditch the router she installed without my permission. I ran an Ethernet cable from my router down to her room so that she could hook up her dvr. Now I find she had installed her own wireless router on that cable, and has her own network ssid and settings. Does this enable others to bypass my wireless security measures, and possible access my own router and computer? Thanks for any help!

As long as that second router has WiFi security enabled, all will be well.

Sounds like she is pretty knowledgeable. You should be quite proud of her.

With the proviso that onthelimit1 says it is quite safe and is protected by your own router's firewall if one is included in your router.
