Yes it's illegal, if you don't own the license.
As "borrowed" software...I'm afraid as rawprawn say's it's illegal.
Unless, of course, the person from whom you buy the software removes it from their computer/has never installed it.Skeletal
It is illegal so why not use Open Office or some other free or cheaper Office alternative?

When you buy software it can only be run on one PC when it's Microsoft at least
