Hi guys,

Can someone point me in the direction of a cable to hook up a 2.5inch IDE HD to my desktop?

My aunts laptop crashed and I cant get it to recover, corrupted Windows registry. I need a cable to get pictures off it that weren't backed up. I dont really need a caddy.

Thanks

.

Although Technotiger solution will probably work for you $35 seems a bit expensive. Amazon do caddies for under £10 and post free. Just make sure you get the correct type, SATA or IDE (PATA).

Exactly - hence my second post :-)

Personally I prefer the enclosure, the cables tend to give more problems (and are more expensive), at least in my experience.

Hi, I have both, enclosure and able set-up on 'standby'. I have found cables to be perfectly ok, and quicker to use.

OOops - able = cable :-)

That's why I added "at least in my experience", Technotiger. ;)

My last external caddy for a 2.5" drive cost me only €12 - and works just fine. I can't see a cable being any cheaper.
