It sounds to me like it has 64meg of onboard shared graphics!

So the graphics would be usingup some of the memory?

Yep, just looked it up and the graphics shares the ram that it why it is showing up as less (mind you I thought it would say 192mb)

According to the site that I looked at it can go upto 2mb of ram click here

If you have XP, it will benefit greatly from another 512mb RAM (or a gb if you can stretch that far) - Win98 will manage with a total of 512mb.

Go to click here and enter your machine details and it will tell you what you can use.

An increase to 512MB will make a perceivable difference, faster Start-up, faster access to programs.

Anything over 512MB up to 1GB will make a difference but you are unlikely to notice it.

One of the advantages of increasing memory on a Laptop is a gain in the amount of time your battery lasts. There is considerably less use of the HDD as a Swap-file. Having said that, we are probably only looking at an extra 5-10 minutes of use on a charge.

Thanks everyone, I had already ordered a 512mb stick from crucial before this post as I was unhappy with the memory. Your help is great thanks again.
