20 GB of System Vol Info - OK to delete?

  Dick_Dastardly 22:28 10 Dec 2006

I've been having a look at my hard drive and I've noticed I've got over 20 GB of space taken up by 'System Volume Information'.

I've checked out those files and I think they are loads upon loads of restore points - is this so, and am I OK to delete all but the very latest ones to free up some space ?

The large number of restore points is probably because you've left the System Restore capacity at its default setting of 12 per cent.

This was fine when XP was first launched as hard drives had much smaller capacities compared to today's even cheaper, but usually three-figure GB drives.

I have System Restore's capacity set (on a 60GB hard drive) at around four to five per cent.
