2 Vista Installations on Same Hard Drive

I am about to buy a laptop for general usage and also for mobile DJing... my plan is to have two installation one for normal use and the other as basic as possible (no anti virus, etc) for live djing is this possible. I realise I will need Vista install discs?

yes this is possible, but first you will need to have two partitions on your drive, one for each version.

understood that was what I was planning to do... have done this before with xp but was concerned whether vista would be so happy ... do I need 2 licences?

no, both installations are on the same computer.

You need Anti-Virus as if they are on same drive it can infect the other OS files just the same

Thanks for your thoughts woodchip... the second os will never connect to the internet or receive an unscanned file.

Surely the av of the first installation would still search both partitions anyway.

It may do but you will have to check after you set it up
