i asked this question yesterday but didnt realy get an answer. my antivirus picked uo 2 viruses when i did a scan, trojandownloader.win32dyfuca.aw

it said it couldnt disinfect these and it has renamed them. why has it not disinfected them, why rename them and will this harm my pc. shouldnt the av do what its supposed to do?

My av did this recently, and the reason was (if I understand the explanation correctly) that it couldn't disinfect the file that the virus had infected without making the file useless. So, rather than simply delete the infected file, it renames it or encrypts it so that it can't cause any further infection. Then you have a chance to see what file it is, and to replace it if its absence is causing problems with your system.

the ANTI VIRUS program - maybe it was unsafe for it to disinfect them - so renaming them stops the from being run - till you locate them and safely delete them
