£2 Painting on Ebay sold for£400 'direct'-Scam?

  buel 06:27 18 May 2009

Hi, my brother recently bought a 'limited edition' painting from a car boot sale for £2, he then put it on ebay with a minimum price of £40 but it failed to get a bid but after the listing had finished somebody contacted him from america to offer him £400 outside ebay but with paypal, my brother instantly agreed and it seems the buyer has paid! is there any way that this could be a scam please?

In financial terms...Wait until the funds have been received.

As far as the "Work of art" is concerned, I suppose it's simply a case of "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" :))

If it is he'll have difficulty getting PayPal to help.

They don't like sales outside E-bay.
