1x1TB or 2x500GB (RAID 0)?

Okay - what's the best option for a games PC?

1x 1TB SATAII 32MB Cache Dual Processor Internal Hard Drive or 2x 500GB (7200rpm) SATA 32MB Hard Disk Drive set up as RAID0?

Thanks,

Pete

Raid 0 for speed is a good idea for gaming. Just remeber though if one drive goes you lose all the data. Also remeber if you want to use the drives again in another system to unraid them.

I've currently got a pair of 500GB set up as RAID0 on my Dell XPS 420, but I'm pretty sure it's not as quick as it was when I had a single 500GB drive in.

I'm upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit, and thought I'd put a new (pair of) drive(s) and keep the old ones until I'm happy with the new OS, then turn 'em into backup drives (or sell 'em)

I had a "raid 0" set-up with a pair of Seagate 500gb discs....One started playing up so bought one 1tb Seagate and everything is loading faster!....I also have a 1tb which I clone to every two weeks plus a 500gb which I back-up every week.....It's a bit over kill but who cares!!!

Hi Boghound,

Is it a noticeable speed improvement?

Also, what cache is on the drive? Is it 8, 16 or 32Mb?

Thanks,

Pete

Yes the speed is noticeable....The cache is 32mb
