I hope you got my links to the Guru3D site.

It's well worth reading the full review on the 7950GX2 card, including their thoughts on using two of them in a quad SLI format!

Now........I'm just a bit confused by your desire to use the 7950GX2 instead of your 2x 7900GS cards.

Here's why.........whilst the 7950GX2 will be faster than two 7900GS cards it wont be by that much. Its performance would fall between that of your 7900s (SLI) and that of 2x7900GT cards (SLI).

And then there's the onboard memory......both your cards have 512MB.......that's exactly the same as the GX2 set-up.

I know the GX2 is advertised as 1GB,but that is the total of the two cards added together. The reality is is has two 512Mb cards working in parallel to provide up to double the framerate of a single card. It's no different than putting two 512MB cards in an SLI motherboard.

The GX2 is a very good card, don't get me wrong, but it's aimed a people who want to experiment with quad core set-ups and more specifically, people with non SLI motherboards. You can now gain the benefits of an SLI rig with a single graphics card slot.

In your case I can't see any clear (or at least big) advantage of switching to the GX2.

The reason i changed my mined with the two 512M is that i would like to purchase one GX2 now and another GX2 in the future increasing the Graphic capabilities, however i do believe thinking about it that this could be horrendous ‘over kill’ as nothing is that far advanced yet i.e. games etc…..

Quad core had crossed my mind.....that's why I mentioned it and used this link click here in the other thread.

I agree with you about overkill.....and then there's support for games under quad core.......and Direct.X 10 just around the corner.

It would be interesting to try it though.........assuming unlimited funds that is,lol.
