Hi there, I went into System Properties to check how much ram there is in an Intel P4, 2.80Ghz laptop running WinXP Pro. It reports 192MB RAM. I wonder why it doesn't say 128MB or 256MB or something like but rather an unusual ram capacity of 192MB! Any explanations? Thanx.

It's probably got 256Mb, with 64Mb allocated to the on-board graphics.

Onboard graphics that shares the system ram? eg you have got 256meg install but the graphics card uses 64meg of this leaving 92meg shown as system ram

The graphics memory is included in this figure, however 192 is 3 x 64, so you have most likely have three 64MB memory chips somewhere in your pc.

I agree on my laptop system memory is shown as total memory minus the amount set for my graphics card at that time, in my case it is shown as 448 which is 512(total installed RAM) - 64 (for graphics)
