I have just bought a 16 gig mem stick but it wont let me copy a 5 gig file to it. I have stored well over 11 gig in smaller files.

Hi Sean.f,

Your memory stick will have been formatted as FAT32 this will only cope with 4 gig files, go to Format disk and reformat as NTFS.

To Format disk, go to the memstick icon in my computer, right click the icon and the menu that appears will have the Format option.

I was told that it had to be FAT32 as NTFS would reduce the life span of the stick.

NTFS is a better method of "storing the fles" i.e. better use of the available space. However it can only be seen by newer operating systems

FAT32 means that the stick can be recognised by the older operating systems i.e. win98 and older.
