128mb ram is reported as 64mb.

Hello friends, I installed a 128mb ram stick in a Win98SE pc running celeron 333Mhz cpu. When I went to the SYSTEM applet in control panel, it reported only 64mb ram installed! What could be the reason for this? Is the ram stick half dead?

How much ram did u have previously ? Is this the only Ram "stick" in the machine ? Do u have an on-board graphics card ?

about the PC would help.

It is possible but unlikely that 64mb is being shared by the graphics card or chip.

If the speed of the new memory is radically different from that of the stick already installed, such a problem is possible.

It might be the wrong type of memory.
