After an earlier posted problem which resulted in replacement of my mobo, repartitioned & formatted my HDD and reinstalled XP PRO with SP1 and relevant drivers...

problem i'm having is system is using 100% CPU time when just booted onto desktop...

When i move mouse, monitor takes seconds to refresh and i basically have to reboot to recover resources...

Ran AV scanner (avast, avg and p-cillen) all found no virii...

Have ran A2 for trojans and used Win Tasks to check what's running...

Loaded software is the same software i have been running for a year on old mobo...

is it possible for a CPU / RAM to be "half fried" which may be causing intermittant problems...

any suggestions, tia

Have you used msconfig to prevent the apps from loading?

found out that it was my either my BIOS or supplied mobo drivers, after updating all drivers and flashing BIOS on new board, from asrock's site, system running fine...
