1 year's worth of e-mails downloaded

Had to get a new hard drive for my PC.

Can someone explain to me why, when I got Thunderbird working again, 1 year's worth of e-mails landed in my in box.

Do they stay on the isp server for this long even if you've read them?

This would depend on your account settings. Have a look at the settings and under "server settings" there is a box towards the bottom "leave a copy on server" untick if you want messages downloaded.

This box has always been ticked as far as I know that's what I don't understand. Maybe I'm mistaken.

If the box is ticked then it will leave a copy of the message on the server - remove the tick.

sorted it now.

Thank you.:-)
