Upgrading my PC

  Baz 10k 15:40 15 Aug 2010

Hi i'm looking to upgrade in order to play FFXIV when it comes out at fairly high specs.
At the monent i think i have a problem with my gfx card as when i run any game that is good graphics my pc shuts down and i notice the fan n my gfx card doesn't spin corrently.

I def need a new gfx card and perhaps a proccessor and upgrade to windows 7 and get DDR3 ram? Any advice on what exactly I should get and where I can get it?

Thanks very much in advance. :)

There's nothing wrong with your system. Except your gfx card sounds like it's dying. Time for a new one maybe?

  Baz 10k 12:49 16 Aug 2010

Can you reccomend a good new gfx card?

  gengiscant 13:27 16 Aug 2010

This will depend on your budget also it would be useful to know what power supply you have.

This is my cooling system. When it come to price for the new gfx card i'm fairly flexible. Like if it's £100 and gonna do the job then fine but if it's gonna take £200 or more to get a decent one then that's fine too. I want to be able to run FF14 at high specs if possible.

Use this to estimate your current wattage useage as I think that you might need to up your PSU before putting in a decent card.click here

have a look at anandtech bench for gpu, you can compare the card you have now against a range of cards, fps,and includes power consumption for card and system.

I found this..

I think it's a decent price and if i do wish to require a further upgrade in the furture i have the option of crossfireing.

  Baz 10k 21:08 17 Aug 2010

ok in the end i ordered
Asus ATI Radeon HD 5770 "CuCore" 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Might need a better psu but i'll see how it goes.
