I am sure this has been dealt with previously but my search was inconclusive.

have installed far cry 2 finebut when try to play it wont read the disc.

Secureom message comes up saying you need to disable emulating software. I have actually unistalled all the emulating software I think is on the machine.

Have installed the patch and tried eveything I can think of...and my machine meets the required spec.... any advice?

Might be worth giving CCleaner a run to see if it picks up any remanants.

Also would be less confusing if you posted in just one place.

right click my computer, properties, hardware, device manager, view, show hidden devices, non plug and play drivers, look for starforce, right click on any there and choose disable.

I had the same problem, got an email from secuROM which contained a link for a fix.
Havn't got the original email but I did post the fix on the Farcry2 forum.
scroll down to the third post from 'nemisis87571953' to find it hope it helps.

AAAAHHHHHH. It cant be legal to sell software that makes you disable all your otherlegal software and still, STILL it doent work.
Have followed citadel and ghenhiscant's suggestions and still does not work, on my 15th email to the securicom people...
I dont have the confidence or the inclination to install vista as a dual partitiion to play a single game....
thanks for your suggestions... anymore though as I am still getting nowhere

PC Tools Spyware Doctor causes this error in Crysis. Once disabled the game runs fine. If you have it installed, that could be your problem.
