Hiho,

Noob PC builder in need of urgent advice....

I am building my first ever pc from scratch and am now in the process of purchasing my parts. Before I press the huy button on ebuyer.com I just wanted to check that my spec sounds ok?

Processor: Phenom II x 4 955 3.2ghz
Mobo: MSI 790FX GD70
Hard disk: Samsung spinpoint F1 1TB
Case: Antec twelve hundred
Graphics: XFX xxx DDr5 4890 1gb
PSU: Be Quiet 650w dark pro

Does this sound ok? Can someone please recommend RAM and cooling (if required)

Let me know if I have missed anything!!!

Thanks
Paul

Excellent PSU, but if you're going for the Antec 1200, you might as well get this case+PSU bundle click here & save £35 overall. Be aware of the case's size though - it is quite huge!

I would go with the HIS 4890 click here, as it has better cooling for around the same price as the XFX.

As for RAM, I'd get this: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 XMS3 DHX Memory Kit click here.

Would definitely recommend an aftermarket cooler, especially if you are thinking of overclocking the CPU. G

titan fenrir cpu cooler is rated best by custom pc mag. dx11 cards are out soon, only a few weeks.

are the dx11 cards the new graphics cards?

yes they are dx11 ready for dx11 games, improved game effects, faster than current dx10 cards. direct x is used by microsoft for graphics etc.
