Just bought a dvd recorder. Are there specific DVD media that are better (in terms of reliability etc) for seperate stand alone dvd recorders, or will any thing from a computer supplier like dabs etc do?

I have heard that some DVDs dont always burn very well. Less of a problem if trying to burn some PC data, but a bit annoying to discover you favourite TV prog has not recorded!

thanks

depends on the recorder....

usually a dvd RW of any mfr will do. obviously some are better than others.

I've used the same 10 pack of Imation DVD+RW's since Christmas and they still record and playback without fault. Just look in your instruction manual to see if your recorder takes +, - or both formats. It also depends on the DVD player that you want to play back in. My recorder will only record on + discs, but the DVD player downstairs (which is 4 years old) will only take - discs. But I always playback on the recorder anyway so this isn't really a problem for me.
