VGA as against S-Video

  Quiet Life 19:02 17 Feb 2007

I am buying an HD TV and would like to connect my laptop for slideshows etc. Laptop has S-video and VGA outputs. One of the TVs I like has only S-Video input as against the other which has VGA and S-video.
Has anybody experience of the quality comparison using VGA as against S-video?

I've no personal experience of the difference between s-video and vga on an HDTV but technically vga is superior with a much higher resolution. Buy the one with both and you can't lose.

VGA is a lot better in my expierance SVHS or S-video is a poor relation.

Unfortunately the one I prefer is not the one with the VGA and hence the question and the wish to know if the two forms of input showed any material difference in quality.

VGA is a lot better S-VHS does not allow the control over screen resolution that VGA allows.

VGA is a PC standard S-VHS is a home video standard well out of date because its not that good. It's little used and does not meet today’s high quality standards it is a TAPE VHS technology.

You would notice the differance.

Remember S-VHS is picture only, no audio.

Thanks Raven VGA would seem to be the wise choice
