using a tv for a laptop monitor

Getting a Samsung LCD TV that can be connected to my laptop and used as a PC monitor. At the moment i use my laptop to connect my old crt tv using s-video lead to 3 rca. to get the laptop screen to the tv i press f12. What is better using the s-video lead or buying a tv monitor lead and use the vga port on the laptop to the pc input on the tv.

With S-Video, you will not be transferring any sound over to the TV. I would go with the latter.

If you use S-Video connections, you have to use red and white (sometimes black) 3.5mm jack plug audio leads in conjunction with them.

This is one type:

This type, in conjunction with S-Video, is also a possibility for use with a laptop (utilising the speakers' output jack plug socket):

ive got a s-video lead with the audio 3.5mm jack so sound no problem. What gives the better quality for sound and picture and do i still have to press f12 for the tv monitor if this is the best option.
