Can anyone recoomend a cheap reasonably good TV preferably with freeview 24" above & a reason DVD player preferably a recorder with it.

If TV has no Freeview can you recommend a cheap decent Freeview box?

My budget is about £350 - £400. I know this is a big ask but its for my Mum and thats her limit

Thanks in advance

Argos Catalogue is the place to look
There is so much out there it would be impossible to make objective recommendation

TV/DVD
You might pay a little more for a Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, LG, JVC etc (other brands are available) but you'll likely get better picture, facilities & reliability with these rather than some of the own brands out there.

You might struggle to buy a non-Freeview TV set these days but I'm sure you'll find one somewhere if you try hard enough, but I'd recommend one with Freeview built in. Advantages are that it cuts down on sockets, cables and remotes ! Make sure it's widescreen too. Currys have 15" 4:3 Analogue TV's from £60 so be careful.

Aerial upgrade might be required too.

DVD Recorder - you would be well advised to get one with Freeview built in to this as well. Also seriously consider a HDD in this item. You can obtain budget models in Tesco but para 1 applies.

Also to consider is a High Definition TV and DVD player - Freesat and Blu Ray.

I should add.

Richer Sounds is an excellent company, but look very carefully at their TV stock. They are all good value for money but some of the sets are analogue only.

I have 3 Panasonic DMREZ-27 recorders.

The first two cost me £179 from John Lewis with a two year guarantee. (Some time ago).

My last one was from Richer sounds a couple of weeks ago.
It entailed the use of two buses to reach their Watford branch, but well worth the effort.
