but is having trouble matching up?

if she is using a PAYG sim then she needs an unlocked phone + one that uses the same size sim card

buy an unlocked phone or phone compatible with your provider.A lot of providers will do an upgrade deal if you have been with them for some time so worth looking into

If its a case of selecting a particular mobile phone that is locked to a certain network, then in some or most cases, the retailer should be able to offer that particular phone locked into the network of choice. But the prices might vary slightly. The same will apply to an 'unlocked' mobile, which is likely to cost more.

Failing that, most places nowadays have outlets that will 'unlock' a mobile for a small fee.

I would also add, that there are mobiles out there that have facilities to use 2 sim cards, usually one sim for perhaps business use, the other sim for personal use.But these are becoming less available, unless you want to go like somewhere like PoundWorld Plus, who have some basic type (Nokia ?) stocks at about £9.99 each.
