Hi folks, I've recently got a Sony 32" LCD tv which has a great picture but the sound leaves a bit to be desired, it sounds 'dead' for want of a better description. Any sensibly priced suggestions for speakers please? We don't necessarily want 5 or 7.1 but 2.1 would be good.
TIA, yaesu.

Best bet would be a 2.1 system from specialist hi-fi manufacturers such as Altec Lansing, who also produce computer and home cinema speaker systems such as:

One of the offspring has a Denon 5.1 speaker system which is excellent, but price wise around £250.

You can pay up to £1,000 for more for a 2.1 system from the likes of Bose etc but up to £100 or so should buy reasonably good sound output from a top brand name.

When I purchased my Philips 'flattie' I did not even bother to intiate the 50p size speakers.
I considered it was not worth the trouble and extra
cabling required for what would be a mediocure output.

I friend who subsequently got himself a new computer
package -re urned his monitor as faulty sound only to find its replacement no better.
This time he took the whole package back to dealer to look at and when he got it back- the dealer pointed out that he [my friend] had not set up the sounds software that came with the screen correctly.
It has Concert/Room/Cinemas settings apparently.

So make sure you have set up the speakers for the environment you are in. Failing that simply accept built in speakers on a 'flattie' are no substitute for a dedicated speaker set, even a set costing a tenner.

Jack, I've tried just about every setting available and the supplier says they're all much the same, you need a cinema sound system sir. Anyway I'll investigate further and mark this resolved, thanks once again. yaesu
