Perhaps some other user with this machine can help solve a problem I have.
When attempting to dub some pre-recorded programs from the HD onto DVD (any format) I get the message
"Cannot dub in Hi speed Mode, Please change dub mode (rec. mode)"
This I have done but STILL get the same message !
I can dub in FR mode no problem, but it takes SO long.
What am I doing wrong ??? Any advice appreciated.

You can only dub in hi speed when recording to DVD Ram

If you go to the functions menu, then go to the setup menu/disc//rec for high speed dubbing and set this to the on position then all the recordings made after this is done will be able to be transferred to disc at high speed. I have done this on many occasions to the format dvd-r discs.

I have tried yet again to hi speed dub to DVD R without success.

I think I know why - page 45 of the manual gives a list of cases where it will not work, the last being "Titles containing many erased segments".

I have taken films the kids have recorded, erased the adverts and tried to dub to DVD R.

In this case only RAM disks allow hi speed dubbing.
