Panasonic Camcorders

Has anyone else had severe problems using the Fire Wire connection with their Panasonic Camcorders. It seems that you need to switch everything off and reboot before you can use them which makes a mockery of the Fire Wire port idea. The alternative would appear to be a burnt out Video module on your camera. This happened to me and the Panasonic repair shop told me this was a very common fault. Panasonic of course don't want to know and deny that there has been any such problems. Mind you they have posted an instruction on their site on how to use Fire Wire.
